ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF A PUBLIC PARK IN NYC

Last week I posted something about Lt William Tighe Triangle, a little park at the intersection of Riverside Drive, Seaman and Dyckman Avenues. This park had been taken over and occupied in a manner that many would say is blatantly illegal, by people who do not represent the ethnographic makeup of the community, which is mostly Hispanic.
They happen to be white, as am I, and most, if not all, are rather left leaning in their political views which makes it ironic that they can be involved in this kind of occupation of public property. At some point they planted a few trees there and thus felt entitled to erect a fence and lock it to the public save for three hours a week.
I had made noise about this over the years, starting in 2012, and ultimately it had been opened up again to the public and I was able to enter at will.
However, once my back was turned, the park reverted to being a private enclave for a group called RING. There were thick padlocks on it today, although the signs did say that the park was open limited hours to the public. Another sign contradicted this even, and a note was amended saying it could be closed without notice.
Today senior citizens and the local Hispanic population were not allowed in. The heat beat down and the shade of the park would have been a real pleasure, but unless you own a key to it and belong to RING you are locked out. Locked out during the China virus lockdown. Who is the ringleader?
I am going to find out and I am going to call the police about this illegal action. Where is Letitia James, the attorney general? Or the public advocate, Jumaane D. Williams?
Stay tuned, I will get to the bottom of this. PUBLIC property needs to be accessible to the PUBLIC. PUBLIC ADVOCATE please take note. This issue needs to be addressed urgently, for one reason, there is precedent being set here. If one park can be taken over by a small eilte, then the precedent by which this happened can be applied in the future. While this park is not in Spanish Harlem, and most politicians would be lazy and use that as an excuse to ignore a precedent that is being set if it is not actually happening in their yard, the more diligent politicians and activists take note so that evil precedent is stopped BEFORE it is used in their district. Daby and his crew do not want to see parks in Spanish Harlem taken over like this, and realize that they cannot be like Martin Niemoller who, in the nazi era, did not speak out until the Gestapo came for him. We speak out when it is time to speak out.
Daby Carreras and his crew are on the side of the PUBLIC with or without the city officials, who allowed this to happen for many years. That is why people will be voting for him this election day. He is on our side all the way.
